I have been waiting for petco to have its $1 a gallon sale to pick up a few new tanks. One was a 29g to turn into my new sump for my 90g.

I wanted to make a three chamber sump with the center being a refugium. I made the first chamber 10" wide for my sock and skimmer. The second chamber is 14" wide, and the last chamber is 6". I went a little deeper with my center chamber at 12" baffles. I did put a piece of egg crate on top of the last baffle at 10". This helps keep anything big from going into the return.

The first chamber baffles are set with the first one is set 1.5 from the bottom and 1" from the second baffle that is sitting on the bottom. I will say I should have added a third baffle that was also 1.5" off the bottom and 1" from the second baffle. This would have made the water flow across the bottom to help keep it clean. However if you want a sand bottom in the second chamber keep it in this configuration.
