i got a new apex lite last week and have issues with the screen flashing blank blue when power is cycled. i have tried updating as neptune support advised, and have been going back and forth.

now.... for the last 24hrs my email has been blocked by "spamcop" whenever i try to email neptune support or marine depot. see an example below... i tested by sending other people emails and they go through just fine. trying to keep a cool head here but seriously?!?!?!

anyone else ever been blocked by "spam cop"? i am tired of dealing with this thing, and i'm getting seriously frustrated.....

one was to neptune and the other was to marine depot. both addresses disappeared when i posted them here.

Looks like the IP address Yahoo is using to send your emails is on a spam list. Many incoming mail servers use those lists to block spam from coming in to their users, as it sounds like Neptune and Marine Depot do. It's no fault of the Apex, so not sure why you're frustrated with it.

Try using a different email address.

i'm no computer programmer, but i don't think a different email address would work when it is sent from the same ip address. maybe i'm wrong.

i have heard and read many people say that apex support and the product are good, with few that had issues. well, my screen flashes blank blue indefinitely if it loses power for a minute. if it has this glitch, what else could be wrong with it? neptune support stated that this should not happen. brand new controller, and i would like this fixed. reasonable request...

why am i frustrated? i have been going back and forth with neptune support, running test, and updating. now my ip address is blocked so that i can't email them for support. you wouldn't find that frustrating???? i have a brand new controller that is not working properly and now i'm blocked from emailing tech support. i'm not the one who is using spamcop...

Kurt n, you know what my friend? I think you are right and it is on my end...

I googled spamcop issues and it seems like there are a LOT of people that have yahoo email addresses have been blocked for no reason.

I had no clue that yahoo used spamcop. I thought it was on their end.

Looks like it is once again on my end. I will set up another email address with a different server tonight and see if that works.

I hope this is it. I just want to have this thing setup and running properly. I need a good controller, but can't keep spending hours every night trying to resolve tis issue.

A different email address works because spamcop is not looking at your IP address... it's looking at the mail server's IP address, which in your case is Yahoo. Yahoo uses a bunch of different IP addresses for their mail servers, and unfortunately for them (and you) one of those servers/addresses sent enough spam to get noticed by spamcop.

Yahoo doesn't use spamcop on the outgoing end... it's the receiving end that is using spamcop, as do most folks that run mail servers. If not spamcop, then some alternate spam-blocking database.

I understand your issue with the Apex, but this isn't one of them!

gotcha... it just seemed like a mighty big coincidence.

i have sent multiple emails to other people and it goes through just fine. so.... it appears that i might have been temporarily on one of yahoo's servers that was blocked. on the spamcop site, it says that should change soon as they have over 5,000 servers.

bottom line, looks like yahoo emails get blocked a lot by spamcop. something about other people on the same server send spam and the entire server gets blocked.

i opened a new email on a different provider, and they go through.

might have just been a coincidence. it just happened to come at a time when i was trying to get my controller fixed and already frustrated. lol

anyway, just thought i would share this in case anyone else has any similar situations....
