iron supplement

I was just wondering if I should add iron supplement for my macro algae.I used it in my freshwater Planet tanks.all opinions are welcome.

I was never able to grow cheato until I started dosing iron. I use the prodibio iodi+, one vial a month. my chaeto went from a lime green to a deep olive green in a few weeks. it's the only thing I dose and don't test for, but I have been doing it for a few months now and all seems well.
