Hey,
I have seen in articles that clams need calcium, strontium, iodine.

I wonder does the clam also use alkalinity, magnesium?

wAITING for answers.

Yes. A photosynthetic clam needs carbonate, calcium, magnesium and other trace elements to build its shell in a manner similar to reef-building stony corals.

However, do not dose strontium or iodine without having a test for these. For the most part, the need for these two elements is relatively easily maintained by water changes, and they're toxic if they're present in high concentrations.
