Hey guys!

I've been noticing my yellow belly blue tang's mouth has been turning more and more white, and not sure what this could be... He still is juvenile, and doesn't have his yellow belly just yet, so Im not sure if this is a disease, or is it part of the maturing process? (I doubt it). I've been feeding him mysis, pellets, and seaweed. He eats pretty well. Can anyone help figure out whats going on?? What can I do to help cure him? Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Here are some photos, sorry for the bad quality...

Could it be velvet or something like that?

Looks like a fungus to me. I think it's called mouth rot

Does it go away on its own? Should I be doing anything?

No, it won't go away on its own. It's a bacterial infection (if that's what it is) and you will want to treat fish in a hospital tank. I think there is a forum here specifically for diseases and treatments. You can also post there

It's a fungal disease. you need to treat it with furanace or nitrofurazone...

If it is mouth rot, it's labeled as a fungus but it is actually a gram negative bacterial.
