I am contemplating the display tank for my system I have currently it will be in wall and I have about 130g not including the display. Originally I was set on a 120g but now am thinking about going with a 30" wide tank I plan to throw the two lumenmax elite reflectors over it. Will that be enough to cover it and will 250 radiums be good for 26" deep with 2-3" sand

I use 3 x 250w MH Radium Lamps in Lumin Bright Minis mounted 8" above the top of my 300DD. 72" x 36" x 27" and I have a PAR reading of 200 to 250 at the bottom.

The 120G is 6 ft?

If so, you will need 3 good MH reflectors to cover it.

30" wide footprint will be no problem with the right reflectors.

250 Watt will be perfect for 26" with 3" sand.

I have a single 250w Radium in a Lumenbrite 3 over a 36x30x22. Excellent coverage with the MH alone but I also run 2x36" VHOs. It's old school but does a good job -- I have a build thread with tons of pictures if you'd like to see it in action. Per this article (http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2008-06/review/), I mounted the bulb 17" off the water. Would recommend it if you're set on MHs.

I'm considering adding LEDs to the mix after running the combo for over a year.

Do you plan to have coral packed in there from edge to edge? if your going to leave a 3" open space around the tank so your mag float or what ever can clean the glass, then you have nothing to worry about.

I am getting ready for the new tank the 120 would be 4' but I really like wide tanks So that's why I wanted to go to a 30" so my choices where I'm at is 22" or 26" tall.

I'm confused! You like wide tanks. The 120g is 48" wide. Why do u wanna go 30" wide?

Standard 120 is 48x24x24. Going 30 wide would be custom. IMHO the 120 would be perfect with 2 250w mh with good reflectors. The 24 wide will give you good room for aquascaping.

I realize this there is a company that I got my frag tank from that fairly close and they offer 30" wide tanks so that's not a big deal.
