Here's a pic of then original supply that comes with the pump,http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/28/ebu6esuh.jpg

Any 24V @6A+ enclosed "laptop type" power supply like that WILL get hot.
You can use "open" supplies like this too
http://www.mpja.com/24-Volt-Power-Supply-65A-150W/productinfo/31024%20PS/
Its still going to dissipate heat though..

It's not even that it gets hot,I forgot to mention that a couple of times the power supply just shut of for no reason, had to unplug it for a few then plugged it back in and it worked again.. Luckily this is a build in progress so no livestock just doing a test run of the new tank to check for plumbing leaks ,when the pump started acting up ..so before I actually get this tank up and running want to make sure I don't have a failing pump

Then replace it.. I personally wouldn't use a "laptop" supply even if I could find one for that much current though..
The one like I suggested is what I plan to replace mine with when it dies on me..

In general..the higher the efficiency of the power supply..the less heat it will dissipate at the given voltage/current draw.

Most dc pumps use a "laptop" power supply. When I got my Speed wave 10000, came with a "laptop" power supply. And WP40/60 also uses a "laptop" power supply.

Not strong enough .. Mine being 6 amps would give 144watts

spydr,
Did you ever replace the power supply?
My pump shut down the other day. I unplug and plug it back in and it works for about a minute before setting down again, thinking it's the power supply.

I replace mine from one off eBay with same output amps and voltage

Hate to say it but that sounds more like the controller to me. I'm in the computer/elecronics business and we repair power supplies in house. In my experience, power supplies usually fail because of capacitors and when they fail, the power supplies dies. Controllers on the other hand have other components that are more susceptible to heat related failures. Those kinds of failures will typically result in a short run time and once they heat up, they shut down.

On that note, if you want to buy a power supply, this is a direct replacement but pricey:

This is cheaper and has the same specs. Just not sure if the plug end is the same but it looks to be. Worst case, you could cut the end off yours and solder the connection onto this one which is a 5 minute job if you have the soldering iron, solder and shrink tube.

This I what you want. No disrespect to Slief, but this is the exact make and model. And cheaper.

No disrespect tank. Good find! Funny, I searched eBay for Jebao power supply. Reality is that as mentioned above by other members, any 24v 6a power source will work fine. You can use a laptop one too. It doesn't matter. In fact, a Laptop one would likely be a better quality because the ones Jebao includes with these pumps aren't great quality. That second one I linked to is much cheaper though and will also work just fine. Only issue may be the power connection which for many of us is a simple fix. That said, I am really surprised by the cost of these Jebao ones. I would have figured they would be cheaper but they are relatively high amperage which in part accounts for the high cost.

Does the power supply show 6 amps on the label?

Bump.... looks like my power supply quit after 2 years. I'm assuming it's the power supply - the pump runs for about 5-10 seconds and then shuts off. It does this with the stock controller or when plugged into Apex. Power supply gives off a buzz for the few seconds that its on.

Would prefer to find one with the same connectivity...
