Have any of you guys put in a bunch of these purple firefish? What happens? I've got my mind set on adding atleast 2 to my 225g. They will be hanging out with a yellow tang, a regal tang, a powder blue tang, a pair of clowns, a royal gramma and some shrimp.

I'm really wondering how it would look/work if I added 3 or 4 or 5 of these little guys.

More than a pr of any firefish will eventually result in only 1 or 2 fish, even in exceptionally large tanks. Even getting a bonded pr is no guarantee of ending up with a pr.

From what I have seen, you are better off going with single member from different species. Most groups as mentioned will become 1 over time.

No more than two then and even risky at that... Thanks guys.

You would probably be better off going with one purple and one red or helfrichi

I have 2 helfrichi firefish (purchased as a bonded pair one year ago) in the 205g.
They are not a bonded pair.
I would not add a third to our tank, in my opinion it is too small.

I have 4 Firefish out of 10 that survived my tank crash last fall. I had 3 and had grown the group to 10. They were two seperate groups that lived on opposite sides of the tank.

I added 6 to my group of 4 2 weeks ago. But the most I have seen out at any one time is 7 since then.

I don't see any abuse going on between them. But a couple do have shortened dorsal fins.
