I was originally interested in a AIO but think I would rather have a reef ready tank & sump.

I'm attracted to the idea of hiding all the "unsightlys" in the sump.

I posted here because the Nano forum rules specify that the discussion is for 34 gallons & down.

I got a few responses in the Nano forum on Truvu and Deep Blue but still looking for suggestions. Any feedback on Truvu and Deep Blue would also be appreciated.

Who makes a good 40 gallon reef ready tank?

Thanks Much

Reef Savvy or custom drilled ADA.

Thanks - Any idea on cost for a 40 gallon Reef Savvy?

Probably about 1.5 to 2000 depending on options. Wait is probably six months or more.

That's quit a bit beyond my budget. I need to find an option at $600 or below for the tank. I don't mind the AIO tanks but would still like the option of a sump without having to run a HOB overflow.

Cadlights has a nice shallow 40 gallon setup with sump. I personally wouldn't buy from there but a lot of people have had success and also spectacular failures.

Personally I would get a shallow 40 gallon setup from Deep Blue, I recall my LFS had a few in that weren't even listed on their public facing site. Or I would order a ADA75P, a ghost overflow, and have my LFS or custom builder drill it and install it for me.

Can you guys explain the ghost overflow to me?

I just drilled a 40 gallon petco $1 per gallon tank. Drilling the tank is shockingly easy! I then used an overflow from Bulk Reef Supply and plumbed it with a "Herbie" drain. You could also do a "beananimal" drain.

I wouldn't pay extra for an internal overflow. DIY is really easy and you can customize it to what you want.

45 g cube RR - under $300 I think.
