Suggestions on how to harvest pods from chaeto

I'm constantly pruning back the chaeto in my sump and find it a waste to have to throw out all the pods within it. I don't want to shake out the chaeto in the DT because I'd then be picking out bits of chaeto from the tank. Any suggestions on a way to easily separate the pods from the chaeto?

Shake it in a bucket?

Shake it off in a bucket or small pail, pour the pail back into the tank when done.
