I hate to waste anything. I have another 40 breeder laying around and want to make a rimless cube out of it - roughly 18x18x18.

Is it just as simple as taking the rims off then cutting out the glass and re-siliconing? What tool and blade is best for cutting up this thing?

You can use the glass from the old tank...BUT...its almost impossible to get the glass cut straight enough with 90 degree breaks to get a seal. Take the glass to a real glass shop and have them cut it and machine polish the edges. I have done this before, as a matter of fact I have a nano-tank curing right now that is using old glass from a unused tank

Good advice, thanks.

Since the bottom glass is tempered and I cannot recut it, is it safe to use glass from one of the sides for the bottom? Or does the bottom need to be of thicker glass?
