Been at it for a short while, but wanted to start documenting my progress. I moved from the midwest to Reno to be closer to my family. Traveling to the west coast with 3 kids was a nightmare. I left a 270, as there was no place for it in my new home. I finally convinced the wife to give me the coat closet near the foyer, showing into the family room. It was a perfect size for a 120. I went with a starphire front, dual overflows.

Here is the tank in the wall. I had someone cut the whole, build the stand into the wall and then framed. This is the first iteration of lighting, two 150 watt mh fixture. It didn't last a month, only because I like to go big.

Here it is framed. The lid lifts for front access. Of course you can access from the back.

Reno huh? Is there a LFS? There was a new one I saw that popped up called Strictly Reef in Sparks, and I got some FW fish from Sierra Aquatics. But then Sierra Aquatics moved and I could not find them. I might be moving back to the area soon!

My 2nd iteration of lighting, a 4x250 watt mh fixture with pc supplements (sfligoi). It was great, until summer hit. With a fan and vents I couldn't keep the temperature down. With summer came the death of most of my starting corals. Only a few montipora survived (wow are they hardy). I recently switched to LEDs. If you're looking for a 4x250 watt mh it's sitting in my garage, I'll dump it cheap for pickup:)

There are a few, Sierra Aquatics is still in town. I get most livestock from liveaquaria, salt online, and really on buy frozen food in town.

Here it is today. New couch (I'd just moved), and a new TV (old bulb died and the technology was old). I've just started continuous water changes, I'm hopeful this will provide some automated stability for when I get busy at work.

The mitras in place. Very nice fixtures. Excellent par. Slowly ramping the up to 70%. Currently at 56. Fan rarely comes on.

This is (hopefully) my before shot. I change 500ml 8 times a day for just over a gallon a day. This comes from a premade 20 gallon barrel under the house and runs the waste water into my plumbing.

I also do a 5 gallon water change once a month to clean the sandbed. I'm already seeing some nice encrusting and growth. The montipora that lived is the purple in the top right and the orange now middle left. Both are obviously my fastest growers atm.

Here's to another post in 3 months with some good results. If they are bad I'll post as well.

As an aside, the xenia (or anthelia, whatever they are) came in on a maricultured coral and were not visible. I'm in the process of isolating them and hopefully getting rid of them. Unfortunately, my wife loves them.

And I love it in Reno. I went skiing last weekend in the morning and golfing in the afternoon. Fabulous place to live!

Good work, I really like the framing around the tank

It would be nice if your pics weren't upside down though! :spin2:
