Hey guys, i need some technical advice.
I have a diy led fixture that i bought from a fellow reefer. Overall its been good, but he only installed cool whites and royal blues. I would like to swap out a few of the leds to try to get better color from my corals. Im thinking of changing 6 of the cool whites to neutral whites, and 6 of the royal blues to true blues.
Here are the details of the current setup:
Channel 1 is 48 royal blues run by two meanwell eln60 48d drivers.
Channel 2 is 24 cool whites on a single driver. Same type.
Im ready to order the new leds and will be using 3 watt phillips luxeons with 90 deg optics.
Im wondering how difficult it will be to pop out the old leds which were glued and reglue the new ones in their place? Also if i add 2 extra leds to the white string will that affect the wattage a lot?
Much appreciated,
Gord

If you have parallel strings (I'd bet you have 2 series strings of 12 in parallel)
then you must ensure that the current is being equally shared as best as possible on each series string.
Changing the LED's WILL change the Vf of a string and WILL effect the current sharing.

This is why I'm 100% against parallel builds for "newbies" (no offense to you at all)
