Anyone have any good places to get a couple buckets of sand. I fianally have my 300 up and running but i need to get much more sand than whats in my 125. I usually get it when i can take my boat out, but thats hard to do in the winter. Lol so any one have good gathering places, especially in the winter. My bay clams would really appriciate it.

Our local sand is not the correct type.

Our local sand is not the correct type.

Not only that, it's illegal to collect it.

Our local sand is silica sand I believe, which is not what reef creatures need. The edges are sharp and detrimental to reef dwellers. What people usually use is some type of reef sand which is aragonite. If you want to use silica sand you can buy it inexpensively from Home Depot or Lowes type stores.
