Hi all

I'm posting this thread based on my experence with my reef system, Over time I've come to conclusions on the things I believe work for me. I've been influenced by many great tanks over time and have also tried to copy things others before me have done without such great resualts. I believe I've tried every trick of the week from reading threads and thinking this must be what I'm missing LOL. I've run full zeo program, bio-pellets, MH, led, T5, ULNS and so on now days I just keep it simple. I removed all the fancy reactors and let my system fine it's own balance, I might add this was really hard for me as I love to mess with everything. Now days I feed my SPS system more than my LPS system all the while Po4 has settled in @ .02 to .04 No3 around 4 I do run a skimmer much larger than what would be the norm and some GFO if I see algea showing up on glass to quickly but other than that I just make sure everything stays stable. I like my alk @ 9 cal 420 and mag 1400 no longer do I run a cal. reactor because I never could keep my alk stable with it and found I did much better with 2part on dosing pumps. For lighting I've gone full circle and now run T5s. There was a point not to long ago with me trying copy all things that made everyone else reefs thrive yet mine just have problem after problem that I started selling off all the corals I'd worked so long and hard to grow and planned on just breaking my system down. I just couldn't fine the the perfect homes for all my livestock and this was also about the same time I started finding the things that worked for me. I'm now on the road to success, my corals have the best color they have every had and growing like weeds, fish are fat and happy as well as algea problems are gone. With all this being said the biggest point I'm trying to make here is for all the ones who are new to this great hobby is find what works for you, follow the basics and keep things simple

Thanks and happy reefin
Guerry

Well put. I think every successful sps reefer eventually gets here, it's just a matter of how much patience and determination one has. Congrats!

I wish I would have taken some of this kind of advice 3 reactors and way too much messing with things ago. I am now attempting to follow this model of reef keeping. Just hoping the loss stops soon as I can't wait to just sit back and enjoy the tank as you are doing.

Good job boss
