Thinking we have a STN problem... just noticed this today, got the coral about 5-6 ish weeks ago and it was thriving and looking super happy. Everything else in the tank is doing great. Will get exact numbers from the test kit tomorrow, but in the mean time, any tips on what to do here?? Planning a big water change this weekend, when I can be there to help my fiance do it. Haven't been successful with fragging in the past... from my own research, sounds like that's the best way to battle STN. Any other tips? (Either on winning the battle or on fragging lol)

If it is Indeed stn use superglue to stop it in its tracks, this has worked well for me and many others. It look like you got a mariculture piece they will do this often but usually stop once better adjusted to your tank sometimes this can take a long time. I am curious to see how your parameters check out. How much flow is it getting ?

Superglue might do the trick. IMO performing a large water change can only make it worse. I sudden swing in parameters could turn STN into RTN. Post your numbers and go from there.

Based on the color of coral and algae in the sand bed you may have a phosphate issue. That is what I would check next.
