I have a 30 gallon nano and all has been well until ***** my torch and hammer have started to show signs of stress and have begun to recede. I haven't changed anything recently (aside from the salt, but I've been aclimating them in my weekly 10% water changes.) All of my levels are on par (11.2 alk, 1.025 sg, 480 ppm for calcium, and 1380 for magnesium). Water quality should be fine since I have an acro that is thriving. Any suggestions as to why they are receding?

are you sure your tests are giving you accurate results?

have you changed lighting at any point?

how long have they been in your tank?

any stray voltage?

what about temperature?

anything like zoas or leathers that might be releasing some nasties in to the water?

They're red sea and are advertised to be of by only a factor of about 5%. The lighting has always stay the same. The torch had been in there for about five months and the hammer had been in there for about three. I haven't checked for stray voltages, and the temp is 80. I have only a very small colony of maybe 15 zoas.

what they're advertised as, and what they're actually reading can be two vastly different things.

over time reagents go bad.

Even if my levels were terribly off, wouldn't I see that in my sps corals?

Maybe, maybe not? It's worth at least ruling it out by having someone double check. It would seem that everything is order, so there's not much else to check.

How old are your light bulbs?

Might as well, I can't see much else wrong honestly.
