You won't be happy with 8x80 on a 300 gallon DD. I had a ATI PM 8x54 on a 250 DD (60x36x27) and didn't like the shadowing on the sides, upgraded to a 10x80 and it covered my tank perfectly. Later switched to LEDs to lower the 800watts over my tanks (heat not an issue).
