Hey all,

I'm setting up (http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2351337) a 55g system. It's going pretty well.

I bought 20 lbs of CaribSea Ocean Direct (http://www.caribsea.com/caribsea/itempage_marine_substrates_ocean%20direct.html), and put it down. Once things got moving, I realized that's not enough as sections of the egg crate I put on the bottom were showing through.

So I went to a closer LFS and grabbed 20 more lbs of sand. I wasn't watching closely, so I thought I got the same as before, but this was
CaribSea Super Naturals "Sunset Gold" (http://www.caribsea.com/caribsea/itempage_freshwater_substrates_supernaturals.html). The bag did say something about ok to use in marine aquaria, but now that I'm looking more closely I see it says it's "pH neutral" in marine environments.

Is having this mix of sands ok? I'm hoping since I have 20 lbs of aragonite already the other stuff won't affect anything.

You will be fine with it. If you do not like it or still have a concern, you can always suck it out as you do water changes and replace it :)

Thanks, it's what I figured.

It's mostly mixed in with the original Ocean Direct stuff at this point. No lights on the setup yet so hard to see how it'll actually look, heh.
