Need help with my skimmer!!

I just got my protein skimmer hooked up for about a little over a week now. Its a Reef Octopus NWB -110 I'm aware there is a break in period, But my question is if im doing a fishless cycle with ammonia would there be anything for it to skim? What ever i have done to this point it just seems to be a very wet foam nothing dry that i can see.

In my experience, you won't see much if any production. I could keep a good foam head in the neck but there just was not much to skim out.

You won't get much of anything until you have dirt, waste or food. Throw some food in and it will skim.

well my cycle is done so ill be getting my cuc soon. im sure they will produce some waste!!
