First off i like to say im very new to this hobby and i apologize in advance for any newb remarks or questions

i got a 120 gallon reef tank and a 40 gallon sump that is in my garage, so space is not a issue for me but im not sure which of these i should get. i also have a problem finding the best spot for my refugium. i bought a used g-1 skimmer but its doesn't create any phone. im not sure if its because its all rodi water in there currently or because its broken. im going to mix the salt in it later on today but from what i see the skimmer does not produce any small bubble, they are mostly big and there is no foam.

i really like to have a refugium in my sump and a deep sand bed to help kill nitrate but the sump doesnt have a designated spot for it. im thinking of adding deviders in the sump but im not sure where they should be or if there is a specific way if doing that

here are some pictures of my tank and sump.

Well, the g1 is going to be a bit small for your setup as is. ASM makes great skimmers and I have used them for the past 10 years with great success. If it were me, I would just upgrade the G1 to the G3 and call it a day. Add the salt and go from there

As far as the refugium is concerned, I would elevate it above the sump and buy the biggest one you can fit.

[WELCOME]

You will have some trouble putting a fuge in that sump. I too suggest maybe putting it above the sump, and have it gravity drain into the sump

ASM makes great skimmers, but I'm a big fan of Reef Octopus as that is what I currently use.

I suggest this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Super-Reef-O...item2c7b177cb2
Also, skimmers only work in salt water.

Yeah the g1 may work once you have salt in there
. It's not going to do anything with just RO water
