This has been an annoyance for quite a while and I'd really like to eradicate it IF I knew what it was, what was causing it, and how to get rid of it. I've tried all the scraping, scrubing, siphoning etc and it only returns. Not at light speed but ever so slowly. Primarily on the back glass at the moment with a bit on the live rock specifically around the tube worms tunnels, is almost clear in color and creates small air bubbles. Any insight would be appreciated and thank you!

No nothing different. But then this stuff has been around for a year! Kalkwasser top off, tsp of seachem calcium and tsp baking soda every other week, seachem reef plus 2x/week.

Hmm, is it a brown film?

No it's growing much like certain types of nuisance algae would, fluffy and stringy.

Bryopsis or maybe hair algae could be what this is.I have had it before and what you are describing sounds like it.
