Reef Dynamics has a replacement pump, SP3-c for $180 and ASM has theirs for the G-4 for $98. Both are modified Sedra 5000 pumps. I'm wondering what the big differences are in the mods? The venturi size? Pinwheel design? Obviously the SP3 is made for the euro-reef body so I assume that the mods are tweaked for it but is it that much of a difference?

You would probably VERY hard pressed to find any difference between the two. Get the ASM Sedra for the G3 and it will kick butt on that skimmer. BTW, the old CS6-2 (CS/RS 135) matched up with the Sedra 5000 is one of the best pump / skimmer body combinations of all time. That skimmer performs just as good as any 6" body skimmer on the market today.

Thanks Jeremy. The pinwheel looks basically the same to me so the only other difference I could figure out might be the venturi. I suppose I can drill it out if I need more air. I doubt that will be needed though.

You could buy Reef Dynamics venturi for about 14 dollars or just use the ASM one for 5.
