I have a piece of live rock that came from an established tank but It's been in my garage for 2 months. Can I just add it to my tank?

its now probably dry rock...If you do put it in it might cause a mini cycle. Btw how old is your tank and has if fully cycled?

Well the tank is 7 yrs old and I moved it 2 months ago. Just wondering if I could just add it, I rinsed it in ro water and picked off any dried algae I seen

I would look into 'cooking' it in a plastic container for a month or two to get it cycled and clean.

There's a good chance the dried dead material on the rock will decompose and cause a cycle. The severity depends on the amount of decaying material. I wouldn't risk just putting it in the tank raw.

I would do a standard cycle it in a separate tank or bucket with a power head & heater. It's not risking your tank residents IMO.
