Hello everyone! Looking for some advice.
Right now I dose alk and cal at night. I'm dosing 12 ml of alk and 9ml of cal at separate times, between 2-3am. I've been wanting to dose kalkwasser, because of cost, and well, i would hope I can make my system more stable.

Questions

What terminology would I use on my apex dosing pump so that I have a fail safe.. If ph rises over 8.4 the pump will turn off

Will kalkwasser alone keep alk and cal in check?

Can I only dose it for a couple of min or so at night?

Do I have to dose it throughout the day?

What are the draw backs?

I have a heavily stocked mixed reef both softies and stonys.

Thank you!

Kalkwasser might be able to keep the calcium and alkalinity levels up, but some tanks consume more than Kalk can deliver. Most likely, your tank will need all or most of any evaporation replaced with Kalkwasser to keep up with demand.

If the evaporation rate varies a lot, Kalkwasser might lead to a fluctuating alkalinity (and calcium) level, which can be an issue.

I can't help with the programming. Maybe someone else will comment.

Fallback OFF
If pH > 8.4 then OFF
