I have a Tunze 9002 that I just can't seem to get to work right. I purchased it used and ended up having to replace the pump after about a month or two of use. Now, the pump seems to work fine, but multiple times a day I check on the skimmer and it's not foaming. If I put my finger over the air intake for a moment and then let go it starts foaming again. Usually within an hour though it will stop. Any thoughts?

How big is your tank and what type of fish do you have in it?

Tank is a 29 gallon Biocube with 2 osc. clowns and 1 sixline wrasse. Skimmer is in the second chamber.

Best guess is it is submerged too deeply or the airline is plugged or kinked. The marked water line is the absolute maximum and ideally it is 1/4-1/2" below that. Double check the airline for kinks and make sure the elbow that connects to the nozzle is unobstructed. You can clean the entire skimmer by submerging it in RO water with the screw removed and adding a gallon of white vinegar, run it for 3-4 hours. Usually the pumps don't fail, they just need a new impeller.
