I decided that I want to set up a 110 gallon-Marineland all glass "high end" SPS dominant tank and I'm trying to budget for lighting. Since the tank is 30" deep, what kind of average LED power should I be looking for? Would 3x120 watt Taotronics type fixture be enough supplemented with maybe a little blacklight UV or true actinic fluorescent? I know detailed lighting discussions for what's best can go on forever but I'm just looking for a ball-park idea. I've considered metal halide but I'm thinking that it will be too much trouble to make a canopy and install let alone the heat and power consumptions issues for my apartment.
