My skimmer dumps a lot of bubbles into my tank. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that this is bad for clams and other things. I don't have clams yet, and the bubbles don't seem to be hurting anything I do have. Should I be worried, or is my mind playing tricks on me?
Thanks,

I can list a lot of things that bubbles are bad for, but to make this short, you will have to try and stop them..
What type of skimmer is this?? I've had this kind of experience with a bak-pak and a prizm...
I'd simply buy an algae pad or sheet, cut out the right size and use it to block the water flowing out... This helped me trap all the bubbles... You'll have to adjust the skimmer box though, so that it doesn't over-skim or overflow because blocking the water flow out will cause a little stall in the skimmer... but nothing too serious.. Again, tell us what kind of skimmer you have, cause some skimmers can be different.
or
You may be over-skimming and the bubbles are simply escaping to whichever route (in this case out) they can... Make sure to adjust it properly...

I was having problems with microbubbles also. I took advise from a fellow RC, and used a nylon. It cut the bubbles down ALOT!

I've bought a filter sponge brick that is supposed to go in a multi-stage filter and put it across the outflow. It's keeping most of them in the tank. They are an eyesore, but my biggest concern is if they are bad for the livestock.

What I'd really like to know is what effects, if any, the bubbles have on livestock.

I'd also like to know if you, Lebowski, roll on Shabbos.

Mine does this if the air intake for the venturi is set incorrectly. It really only become a problem if there is a lot of organic material in the tank. Such as in the case of my 4 year old deciding to "feed the fishies".
