Hey all,
I've had my toadstool coral for about a month now and it has probably been fully open and extended for a total of 4 or 5 days. At first I had him on a rock on my sand bed, med-low flow. Stayed there for 2 weeks, opened once or twice. So I moved him about a week or so up to a position with high light and medium flow. When I placed him there, within 5 minutes he was open, but when I went to glue him in that spot, he closed up and hasn't opened fully since. The most he opens is just little nubs a few millimeters out.

It has also been shedding quite a bit, but still doesn't open after a big sheet comes off.

My params:
Alk 9
Cal 420
Mag 1400
pH 8.2
Temp 80

I have an ATI 6x48" T5 fixture. He is sitting right now in the top 1/3 of my tank.

Here's a pic of it currently:

Toadstools hate being moved, I think you need to just wait and not touch it at all. Though I am no expert so maybe someone else with a bit more experience can help you further.

I had a leather once that closed up for 6 weeks, was just getting ready to toss it and lo and behold it slowly started opening. I think that they need to shed every now and then and this might just be normal behavior?

Hmmm... I like this spot better than the last anyway, so I will probably just end up leaving it. Any other opinions on flow and lighting would be appreciated though.

I guess just make sure it has enough flow to slough off its "skin" when it needs to but not so much to make it angry. ..

I have an mp40 on the opposite side of the tank to the toadstool... and a koralia on the toadstool's side. It's about 10-12 inches away from the koralia.. Maybe I will try moving it closer.
