I got a new flame angel last week and it's not doing so hot.
Drip acclimated it for a couple hours the night I brought it home. next day I noticed a couple white spots. Oh no I thought it had ick. The next day spots were gone and all was well for a couple days, eating good, exploring his new home, etc.
Then he started getting a cloudy eye, fins look ragged(fin rot?), and raised scales on one side. Pretty much stopped eating now, and not swimming so fast.
I easily caught him and put in hospital tank.

LFS recommended microbe lift artemiss. Has anyone used this? Directions say to dose 1ml per 5 gal daily for 10 days. That's it, Says nothing about water changes or anything. I've never had to treat a sick fish so not really sure what I'm doing.

Thanks for any advice,
Cory

From the mfg website:

MICROBE-LIFT/Artemiss is a unique, herbal, immune-enhancing stimulant, which reduces bacterial and fungal infections.

Key words here: herbal, reduces (they make sure not to say eliminates or eradicates). Those are tell-tale signs you are dealing with snake oil.

It sounds like your fish may have Ich. Not saying he does for sure... but researching Ich is where I would start if I were you. A secondary infection, such as cloudy eyes and/or fin rot, is also common when a fish has Ich.

Personally I would triple check parameters for the basics. Even if your other inhabitants are doing well. I have found that drip aclimating any fish for more than 30 mins causes extreme stress. If your nitrite, ph, alk, and nitrate are good it is a stress reaction most likely.
