Just curious... in the case of an old SW tank that's covered with dry corraline on the inside... once it's emptied and sitting dry on a shelf for an extended period. Is that corraline dead? Or could it be scraped off the glass and put in say... a nylon bag in a HOB filter and be used to spread corraline spores to a newer tank?

Not that I have an old crusty pink tank or anything.... I was just curious.

I'd say it's dead as can be. Every time I've let coralline dry out, the next time it gets wet, it turns either bright flaming orange or white then rapidly decomposes.
