Rbta hiding for 9 days in a cave and today is finally coming out a little. Does it looks healthy? I haven't feed it for 9 days, because it was hiding. Can I feed it now or should I still wait untill it come out all? Sorry for the bad photo....took it with iPhone .

Mine is 3 months old. Initially hid under rock most of the time. I was also concerned, as I have only fed it 3 times. From my limited experience, I can tell you that it eats when I feed the fish and will surface when it wants to surface. It is getting larger and looking better week by week, now spends most of the day out. So for now, I am not going to worry about feeding. Nothing hosts, as my 2 clowns act like it is not even there.
Yours looks healthy.

I wouldn't worry about it. I've had BTAs disappear for a couple of months and show up white then recolor. I also don't bother feeding any of my BTAs and often see them split on their own on a 6 month to yearly basis. They are also the biggest killers of corals in my tanks and there's no predicting WHEN they will go on a walkabout.

Your light will depend on feeding. I only Feds bta once a month to get it to grow faster to split. If you have good lighting and good water parameters that's all it needs.

I never feed my RBTA, it got all it's food from floating particles and good lighting. I would do anything. Just keep your system stable and ensure it has proper lighting over your tank. It will come out when is ready.

How can she feed on light when it is hiding in the cave all the time.....there is definitely no light.

They will hide for periods of time till they feel safe. From the looks of the pic it's starting to come out. I had one that took 2 weeks to come out

It's all normal before you know it you'll be complaining it's out in the open and hoping it'll split because it is too big

I think it don't like my light, because when I turn on the lights it will hide back in the cave and when I turn of the lights it will slowly come out a little

My rbta took quite a while to adjust. I also thought it was my LEDs. It is not, and it will adjust. If not, it will move to where it wants. Mine still goes into its rock every day, but comes out daily and for most of the day. Be patient, I know its hard.

I have one that's about four years old and has never moved or split. I never feed it and its healthy but not too large. It rarely closes up except for short periods at night.
I just wonder why it doesn't have the bubble tips! Wish I could figure that out.

At least she still have the color and hoping that it will not bleach, because out of the light so long. It is really making me so frustrating . Worry that it is not healthy , worry that it will die. Looking every hour to it and see how it goes. It is a beautiful thing, but it also makes you very crazy.

I don't want it to grow that fast. So I don't need to feed it at all? Will it not starve?

The best advice for Nem keepers is to remember that they WILL move where THEY want to be.....simply a fact of life with these creatures.
By far and away, the best thing to do is to keep your hands as dry as possible whilst your nem sorts itself out, and it will given time and minmal stress.

I didn't touch or move it. I just let it to want it want. I am just worried that it will starve to dead. There is no light on the cave.
