Looks like red turf algae. Not good.
Some have had success with mexican turbo snails, and the usual: urchin, sea hares, emerald crabs, but others have not.

I've got the same thing creeping up. Was just about to post a question about it until I found your post. From what I've read so far it seems like a tough algae to kick. I scrubbed a few rocks already and on that is really covered I took out and have it soaking in a hydrogen bath.

After just reading that second link I think I'll pick up some of the Mexican turbos. I've never had them but they seem like a good idea to keep the turf algae in check at least.

I also did a hydrogen bath on this rock and scrubbed it out side of the tank. The snails IMO are probably the best bet on natural control of it. Some of those posts are kind of negative and a little out dated on how to control algae, but I do think they are right when they point out it is a tough algae.

I agree. The hydrogen bath seemed to work but I've been noticing little spots creeping up all around my tank so I think the snails would be a good deterrence for it.
