I ran PFO 400w Mag ballasts, and then a year or two ago i switched to the purple/blue lumatek ballasts (the selectable ones that do 250, 250HQI, 400, super lumen) and the Lumatek ballast are a little brighter. and the radiums look good.
i also ran Ushio's 14k and they were nice too.

If you can find it the PFO 400 "HQI" or the Sunlight Supply BlueWave III or BlueWave 7 would overdrive the lamp the most and get the highest PAR out of it. Those mentioned ballasts all run the same internal ballast (Son Agro 430) which is now out of production. If you can't find one of those used then I'd suggest running a Luxcore selectable ballast and running it on the highest setting.

It looks nice on our 400 Watt Electronic ballast but I prefer it on the 400 Watt HQI Magnetic as it gives that bulb higher PAR.

Are you referring to the M135?

Correct, Hamilton's 400 "HQI" is actually an M135 pulse start. This will run the lamp very well, but it's not the same ballast as the old PFO "HQI" ballast everyone refers to.
