Tank parameters since everyone asks:

1.025(and a half) salinity
0 ammonia
20-40 nitrates :0( still working on this)
78 degrees.
RO/DI water. No TDS meter yet.

Adding reef accelerator and Kent trace elements per the directions

I've honestly never had this rock turn purple or grungy like this. Not sure if this is right or not.

Looks like the purple is coralline algae which is good...However if it blows off with a turkey baster it is most likely cyano

The brown on the sand looks like diatoms

Yup... diatom bloom. Perfectly normal and tells you you're cycling is on track! Gratz on your first sign of saltwater life! It'll go away shortly. Give it a few days to a week.

Got out the turkey baster and the purple didn't go away just looked more vibrant. The baster-blast did clear up some of the crap on the rocks. Left the sand alone, didn't want to create a sand storm in the tank.
