So one of the Lfs around me has a 210 for sale for forever, 6' long, it's priced 1500, I got him down to 1200 cash, for tank and stand comes with dual overflows, what does everyone think?

Sounds good to me, is there a stand?

$1000 or more likely less. I got a 220g with stand, canopy, crappy sump, Bubble Magus NAC 77 skimmer, and 8 bulb T5 fixture for $1500.

It comes with a stand, I'm not worried about the canapoy fight now, was yours new? I look online for tanks and stand and they cost 1400-1500 plus shipping

I paid 1099 for the same description listed. It was an aqueon tank.

So not too bad?

Sounds reasonable, will it still have the factory warranty?

I say go for it. Just recently bought a slightly bigger tank 72x27x27 and it cost me that much just for the tank itself

Yeah this one is 72x24x29 I believe, I don't think so, the tanks been there 1 year plus

My LFS will sell the ML220 during one of their sales at $800 plus the cost of a stand, so depending upon the stand in question, $1,500 doesn't seem like much of a deal to me, particularly if no warranty. May explain why it has been sitting there for so long.

Imma Check some other Lfs around here, I don't want a used tank and I don't want to wait for shipping whenever I move and decide to get it, the tank is a standard I think it's all black with 3 doors, the question is, 1200$ for the 210 and stand, is it steep or not bad?

It was sitting at 1500$, I got him down to 1200 by just asking if he'd sell it for 1200$ cash

Depends on the quality of the stand. If it's a nice stand then that would be a good deal...

I have that same tank. If I were to do it again I would get the 180. The 210
is 29" deep and I can't reach the bottom. I have a very hard time moving coral around. Something to think about.

id pass on it for this reason, I'd rather have wider not deeper....I have a 180g in progress and can barley reach the bottom now.

This is true, I'm going to buy a step ladder and goggles for that, this'll probably be my last tank and full reef project, ill turn my 55 into a qt tank or frag tank or both

http://www.aquacorals.com/ShopAquariumStands.htm it looks like the pine tank but with 3 doors, the stand isn't very tall

I guess it depends on the person. I'm 5'11" with a 29.5" deep tank, and I can reach the bottom. I have to have a tank top or t-shirt with sleeves rolled up, and get up on top of a step stool to do it, but it can be done.

I agree, 24 inches is my max depth as well. I am in my tank moving stuff too often to have anything more.

But overall pricing what does everyone think? Plus I'm going to run 3 radion gen 3 pros in each section, good idea?

I bet your armpit gets wet when you go in? ever think your deodorant is getting into the water......

If it's a nice stand I think it's a pretty fair price

6'2 here and have no problem touching the bottom as well. Yet I do prefer width over depth if I had the option to do it again.

I would pass on this. I have 180g and I can barely reach the bottom. Anything over 24" is not best for reefing. Don't forget about light penetration too.

3 radion gen 3 pros wouldn't do it?

danil

Sure they will. Just in general shallower tank is easier on your wallet since you need less energy to light it up. But my main issue with this tank is going to be a maintenance. Depends on your 'size' :) it could be very challenging to reach something close to the bottom without diving in... ;)
Tall tanks are fine for fish only system but they are not ideal for a reef.

I'm 5'7 I don't mind doing the extra matienece because eventually the tank will be a master piece in years to come XD, but if it's a decent price I'm going go ahead and snag it

I'm 5'7" with the same size tank. Once I get things in the back of the tank they tend to stay where I put them :) I got a nice 2' grabber tool I use to move things on the bottom, it's been great.

I have the same size tank and don't let the depth bother you. The extra depth makes it nice for different kinds of corals. High light requiring sps at the top, and low light softies at the bottom. I have ricordeas all over the sand bed and zoas from top to bottom. SPS on top and some 3" off bottom too. Every coral has it's own light req. and you'd be happy with this tank. As for price - your original question - that is a little high in my opinion. If it is brand new, then it should have warranty no matter how long it sat in shop. If it is used i'd offer him $800 max. I got my tank, stand and lights for $300 but that is hard to come by. If you like it buy it! simple as that. Good luck!

Yes, and I should clarify, if you are going to be re-arranging anything at the back-bottom of the tank you will be arm-pitting it, as someone else pointed out. It's just not an area of the tank that gets a lot of mileage, if you will. We run a deep sand bed, and plenty of live rock with a mostly fish only tank, some softies. That helps. Tongs are good. I can say the display presence of a 30" tall tank is nothing short of awesome! If you can work through the back-bottom reach issue then you're golden. Front no problem.

30" deep also like Sean. Yes I can reach the bottom. Lately I rarely stick my hand in the tank, I use one of these grabber tools for the elderly. Priceless, move rock around, rearrange corals, most things can easily be w/o ever getting wet.
