Awesome! Beautiful! The dosing is my biggest thing right now. Before I was able to control parameters by water changes, but i know with all the SPS Cal and ALK are gonna be key. Hope I take the learning curve of it all well. Gonna look into the BRS 2 part dosing system today. Anyone have experience using it. I am not sure a cal reactor would be practicul for my setup.

Just ordered the BRS dosing kit, should be here in a couple days. Already have the Red Sea Pro test kit for CA, Alk, Mag. I always see some folks have complaints about Reef Crystals...are these vaild? Is that just complaining over something trivial?

Six weeks ago I removed GFO reactor and filter sox to try and get color in my corals they are finally darkening up but my readings are still 0.00 no3- po4 . I feed the tank 3 times a day assorted frozen foods I have carbon ,GFO, biopellet ,reactors I dont use and now find myself trying to get nutrients in my system that I was stripping out before while the system was going through the aging process. I may have done things backwards a bit but lesson learned but have to say Im happy with the progress of the tank. I use BRS dosers with randy recipe #1 and I use red sea coral pro salt so I dont have to dose IO to match my tank parameters anymore. I have 6T5 3 Coral+ and 3 B+ on 8 hrs and running 2 WP-25 for flow and use a reef Oct NW150. I have a long journey of learning ahead being totally addicted to SPS these forums and the people that are willing to help are amazing!
Good luck !!!

Is GFO in an SPS tank bad? I have the brs dual reactor with GFO and Carbon, but is currently offline till the tank cycles. I have rapid Onyx dimmable led fixtures run on an apex, anybody have an idea of what % to start them on. My frags will be coming from a 250 halide frag tank.

In my case it was bad because live rock and skimmer alone keep my levels undetectable something i just learned so it was starving my corals. I .started with dry rock so had some issues with po4 in the begining and never took it offline when the rock was done cycling.

I also have started with dry rock. Marco to be exact. Thing is my rock came in wet and unexpectedly started the cycle which is almost done now. I havent had Phos reading yet. I will post pics as soon as its worth posting :)

Here is my old tank back in 2007, standard 75, bare-bottom, lit with tek 6x54 watt t5, with refugium, calcium rx for ca/alk/ w/zeo-mag on top. Used geisemann act. bulbs, kz coralife, and kz Fiji purple.

My 75 before the crash, no dosing, just water changes.

Definitely, I would have at least dosed kalk in my ATO like I do now. Unfortunately for this tank, I found out the hard way that I am SEVERLY allergic to corticosteroids which turned a 35 year old man who's never feared anything into a blubbering mess for several months :lmao:. I laugh about it now because I can, still miss that tank (but not the GSP!)

Wow! That's nuts! So next question, I will be running leds, how do I know if i dont have them bright enough when starting out? I know I will bleach them if they are to intense, what is their too weak?

Dropped zeovit, stored everything in a tub, poisoned bugs ran for the tub, rushed everything back into the tank and now they're recovering again, this time from me fiddling with the co2 rxtr before going away for a few days.
