RODI auto shut off install question

So I got a float, and auto shut off, for my rodi after falling asleep(maybe a couple of beers involved) while making water. Is the auto shutoff install the same for ro and rodi systems? Per instructions I plumbed the auto shutoff from carbon block to in out to ro membrane on top then on the bottom ro out in to product line out. Should I have plumbed the bottom DI out in to product out? I hope this makes sense. Right now it takes a minute after I close the product line for waste water to stop, then when I open product line its pressurized for a few seconds.

Mine takes about a minute to shut after the float valve closes. It takes a little bit of time for the pressure to build up in the shutoff valve for it to actuate.

I too have previously flooded my kitchen after starting the RO and then starting a six pack!
