hm, my brother just had this happen to him, he ended up putting all affect in the QT tank I think and in the end maybe 2 survived of 6 or 7. Not sure what the brown sludge death phase is from, all his params were in check.

All other shrooms near by were and are fine. From what he described it qwould look exactly like your 2nd and 3rd pics, I would get them in QT if you haven't already and do a dip, revive, coral rx, h202, seachem dip....your choice.

I can tell you one thing, that hammer is way too close to other corals. I've actually had hammer attack another colony of hammer and decimate it in less than 48 hours. I don't know for sure that it's the culprit in your case but definitely not worth the risk. The branches can sweep out pretty good at times on mine so I keep all other coral and frags a safe 6" away.

Looks very much like Brown Jelly Disease. Here's some info:

http://www.coralscience.org/main/articles/pathology-2/ciliates

I'd recommend removing the frags, siphoning off as much "goo" as you can, then dipping in Lugols. Without some quick action, you can lose the corals pretty fast. Looks like you still have a little time to save them.

Good luck!

i would say the hammer got it, then brown jelly.

in the future, once you get brown jelly, the only chance is to gently blow the jelly off, then keep it in a gentle but firm area of flow that will keep the damage part from getting more jelly- most of the shroom will blow away, but most of the time part of the foot will survive.
