My new tang is in QT for 7days now with paraguard. It's starting to show signs of ich do I NEED to do a water change before switching medications? Or can I add the cupramine now?

It is my recollection that Paraguard (as opposed to Paragard) is herbal; if so, it should not interact with copper. However, tank transfer is the best way to handle a fish with ich in quarantine.

Tank transfer? I'm not familiar with that. What's the advantage over dosing the QT. Right now I just have the one hospital/QT tank. I could set up another.

Look here (http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2389659) and look at the Tank Transfer link. Works well, very easy and effective for ich, but NOT for any other parasite
