Why would I be getting more algae on the glass near the power head and on the live rock closest to the power head? Is this normal? It's a 75g tank and has only been up for about 6 weeks, inhabitants include: fox face rabbit, diamond goby, scarlett skunk shrimp, peppermint shrimp, hermits, ceriths, snails, 15g sump, skimmer, saw blade caulprea
amonia 0
nitrates 0
nitrites 0
ph 8.0
1.024 SG
water temp 77.9

Just gota phosphate checker, and a uv light that I will be installing this weekend. hoping to help with the algae. Thanks in advance for any and all info.

Because that is where u r getting the best conditions for the algae to grow with flow being one of the conditions

This one reason, But basically these are the basic reason for algae growth. check all
Phosphates
Light
pH

Algae needs nutrients just like anything, you mentioned areas where the flow is increased, this also means the algae in that area has more access to food in the water column, thus it grows more, pretty simple. On another note, you should be looking to lower your nutrient intake, 99% chance your overfeeding your fish, fish food is the #1 importer of phosphate in any tank. Run some type of phosphate remover and a skimmer. You could use these growth areas as "gauges" of changes in the water chemistry. Change something up and see if it gets better, :)
