Canned clams as food

Can I use canned whole baby clams when making my fish food?
I will rinse it of course.

They may be preserved with excessive phosphate, which won't necessarily rinse off. I'd check the label.

Just buy fresh from the grocery store. No preservatives this way and no additional phosphate

I have purchased seafood from the grocery store (fresh) without issue. I would be nervous about anything canned.

Agreed. Upon further study the canned clams contain perservatives.
