Question for Eheim 1262 pump noise guru's

I have the 1262 in submersible use. It is hard plumbed to return line. Sump is about 25 gal. DT 125. Pump is a little noisy or has become nosier than I recall. I am going to add about 5 inch of plastic tubing from pump outlet to hard pvc return. My question; does sump level play a roll in pump noise? Would a little higher water line in pump section quite it down?
Any input is welcomed.

I try to keep mine submerged, but I really don't think it makes much diference. I also have it sitting on a mouse pad in addition to using ~ 12" of vinyl tubing on the return. Mine is dead silent.
