I like the waveline dc pumps. They are energy efficient and super quiet. There are other dc pumps out there that are probably just as good.

Can't go wrong with an eheim. Best pump I have ever owned.

I have the same overflow and a jabeo 6000. I have to run it really low and it's still noisy. If I bought again the 3000 pump would be the way to go.

I like eheim or a mag drive. id go mag5
or equivalent 500 gph

eheim or mag

as for gph it really depends on two factors:
1) What gph your drain/s can handle (this is determined by the smallest fitting in your drain plumbing)
2) How high the pump has to, well, pump.

Also a lot of folks will look at a thread to get info.

Eheim 1260 should do you right.

Diablo, can be regulated and very low energy cost. Its the most new.

I like my Sicce. A 3.0 would be more than adequate and would be quiet.

I am hearing good things about the diablo, though I've never had one.
Eheims have stood the test of time w/ flying colors, you won't see a lot of used ones for sale, people hold on to them, and if you do grab it, and even used you can be pretty certain it's just fine, pretty much always.

I have an Eheim 1262 as a return and one for a closed loop as well. I've been very happy with them... quiet and low heat. I also have a DC pump (waveline DC 4000) that I use to run all the other stuff (uv, inline refugium, reactors, and chiller that stills needs to be plumbed). It's super quiet and the adjustable controller that comes with it is a really nice feature... I may get another DC pump for the return so that I can more easily throttle the return during feeding. Right now, I have to physically unplug the pump, and it's kind of a annoying.

i would probably go mag5 or mag7.

i am running a mag7 as my return through an eshoppes 750 overflow, it has been working out quite well.

I have an Eheim 1262.... I think they're cheaply made. I'm not impressed. As for longevity... we'll see. The mag drive is beefly, and looks tough as nails. As for longevity.... we'll see again. :)

I have a sicce 2.0 as my return on a 4' 60 gallon. Perfect turnover rate. I also plumb it with only 1 90 degree elbow at the bulkhead so that helps. I had the 3.0 on before and it was way too strong, so I use the 3.0 on the chiller instead.

I've had Eheims, Mags, Sicces, etc. The one constant is that regular maintenance practically guarantees longevity and quiet operation. I think the Sicce and Eheim are probably somewhat better made than the Mag but I've run Mags for years without issues. To my ear, they are noisier and hotter than other pumps but they are workhorses and in my experience, very reliable both in the water and dry plumbed. Plus, it's very easy to get replacement parts.
