I am pretty sure my hoevens wrasse killed my cleaner shrimp. The shrimp has been in the tank with the wrasse and 2 o clowns for or over a year and a half and I never had a problem. Today I come home to a tail to the shrimp torn in half and the rest of him gone. This isn't a molt, it was a killing. Has this happened to anyone else?

Wrasses are incompatible with ornamental shrimp. It was only a matter of time.

Wow!!! That's good to know; I noticed he was really fat after the meal.

I have a large Dusky Wrasse in my tank that has left my CB shrimp alone, so far. Murder on the hermit crabs though.

Been lucky so far. My Vrolik's hasn't touched any of my shrimp (2 cleaners, 2 blood shrimp and a pistol). Doesn't mean he won't any time. Such a cool fish though. If he goes rouge and takes out all my shrimp I'll just get a Hawkfish I kind of wanted any way. :-)

Weird!! The exact thing just happened to me two days ago. Came home from work and all was well, after a shower, bit and pieces of my cleaner shrimp are floating in the tank. It was my daughter's favorite, so I have too replace it before she knows it.

Would this happen with a flasher wrasse?

This. A known down side to this type of wrasse. Flasher and fairy wrasses are shrimp safe, however.

If you replace it, it will happen again.
