One of my LFS finally had a dendro. It is in pretty poor shape, but I picked it up anyways. Today is the second day I've had it and did the Tupperware method for about an hour with a mixture of phyto feast, brine shrimp and real oceanic eggs. Thanks for the sticky btw! Three of the five heads opened up very slightly.

I'm planning on taking it out daily to do this until it is healthier. Is there anything else I should be feeding it?

Wow, good luck, it's gonna take a lo of hard persistent work to bring those guys back.

Skip the phyto, these guys are carnivores.

The best advice is to feed whatever they'll eat. Make sure that you actually SEE them ingesting the food. Sometimes when they're very week the polyps will extend but they wont actually ingest any food.

Sounds like you're on the right track :)

I would recommend trying the tupperware method every two days, opposed to daily. This will give the coral an opportunity to digest the foods and a day to 'relax'.

It will take some time to regrow tissue, but it will if you keep up with feeding. Once they're readily accepting brine/R.O.E. I'd move onto meatier foods like Mysis shrimp. Enjoy!

Skipping the phyto and doing the Tupperware method every other day. Thanks for the feedback! I've being getting good polyp extension from four of the five heads. The fifth head is definitely dead which is a shame because it was the largest head. I'm glad they're coming back.

what is the Tupperware method? I have a 1 head dendro that is full of color (no declining) but only partially peeks out every couple of days so don't know if he is eating or not...

see stunreefer's sticky on care of Large polyp NPS. I have a thread that describes it too (NOY's sun corals).

Just an update on the progress, the coral is definitely doing much better. I had to remove the heads from the original rock as aiptasia kept springing up. They are now glued to a different small rock.

Is this definitely a dendro? My coral ID skills are zilch. A big thank you to everyone who has contributed to the stickies, very helpful!
