I'm after a blue reefbrite LED strip to supplement A 4x80w ATI sunpower. Would a 48" be okay on a 5' tank? I'm in the uK and can only find a 48" that will post to the uk for less than $190! :eek2:

I have no experience with those lights but I have used both 48" T5's and 48" VHO's on my 60" tank with no problems.

Thanks, was there enough light at the ends of the tank?

The reef brites are very bright. I have a 24" fixture centered over a 48" tank. It lights the tank well for the effect I am after. I think you will be more than pleased with the 48" fixture.

It was on Amazon.com but now says it's out of stock and they don't know when or if it will come back in stock. Looks like we're back to square one!

Thanks very much for the info, think that's definitely the fixture I want, it's just trying to get hold of one now!

3w LEDs driven at 1w each, and yes they are bright.

Can you not build a DIY version? Would be cheaper, but only issue is that it wont look as cool. :D

To be honest I'm not bothered about the looks, it will be inside a cabinet hood. I did think of DIY but I had a look at the threads and couldn't get my head round it!

If you live in London, I could certainly help with any DIY build. If you do, then PM me.

It only gets complicated if you want dimming etc, otherwise simple on/off is easy peasy. :)

This is what I did to my ATI Sunpower a few years ago...Moonlight, Cree 3watt Royal Blue LED's (same as the Reefbrites) and T5 all in one. :D
