I aquired a rare Plesiops coeruleolineatus back in September from an LAX importer on a Japanese shipment. It was the only one they had, and I have not seen another one before or since (I'm usually up there once a week). Since then I have found very little info about them. I know Liveaquaria had an aberrant one back in 2011 but how does one sex them? Basic habits? Anyone else ever keep one?

Mine is very docile and cryptic, though gets a little more active at night. He is a voracious eater. He also eats bristle-worms with gusto.

The one I had topped out at about 8", though they can get bigger, had him for about 5yrs, they can live longer, but I got rid of mine because I was getting a smaller tank.

They are extremely peaceful and retiring. Although large enough to eat smaller fish, never once tried to go after any. Its behavior was very similar to a marine betta.

Very cool fish. I have a marine betta and it does sound exactly the same in terms of temprement and care. would be interesting if anyone knows more about it however i know Betta's can't be sexed so perhaps with such an uncommon species such as yours it would make info even harder. Good luck though.
