I have some hair algae growing in the middle of some polyps. Do you think I can scrum it with a tooth brush and not hurt the polyps? I tried to get it out by hand and I just can't pull it off.

Get some hermits, they will clean it right up

I must have lazy ones they don't mess with it much at all.

how big are the hermits? I've only had success with very small hermits eating hair algae. also, if the algae is too long, you will want to cut it back, I've only seen hermits and snails eat it if it isn't too long.

i had gha in my last tank and it was a pitas! but... it was an issue with the setup. my current 75g is algae free. i have a very good nutrient export setup on it. i have even brought frags in with gha on them, and the algae disappears in just a matter of days.

scrubbing would help... but that is only putting a bandaid on a bullet wound, imo. i would attach the cause.
