Currently, my heater is set to come on at 74.5 and off at 76. I would like to keep those parameters but add a time period in which the heaters would not turn on. Can someone tell me what I should type into the heater program that would turn off my heater completely from 2pm to 11 pm? Would this program interfere with auto mode (on at 74.5 off at 76) once it turns back on? I would like the heater to go back to auto mode at 11pm. Thank you!

Fallback ON
Set OFF
If Temp < 74.4 Then ON ( this will turn it ON at 74.5 )
If Temp > 75.9 Then OFF ( this will turn it OFF at 76.0 )
If Time 14.00 to 23.00 Then OFF

If your heater has is own thermostat the Fallback On statement will act as a fail safe in case your Apex loose communication , just set your heater own thermostat at a little lower value that will prevent your tank to get too cold .

I will look into the alarm. I remember setting an alarm for something else and it kept texting me at the middle of the night. Drove me crazy!!

Why do you want your heaters to not come on during that time frame?

Your alarm outlet is most likely in the hidden tiles folder , just click on the little lock at the upper right end of the page , drag and dtop the tile at the location you want it and close the lock .

Maximus, I have a quick question. Is there a particular reason you have your heater controlled to cover 1.5 degrees? I'm learning the Apex right now and was wondering what insight you might have.

I have heater control set to ON at 78.9 and OFF at 79.1...temps should only fluctuate .2 degrees. Maybe my heater will cycle on and off too frequently, and that's bad?

Any insight will be helpful.

Fish and corals shouldn't have any problems tolerating 2-3 degree daily temp swings. I would say the main reason I don't have it as tight as you do is the constant on and off of the heater, possibly leading to premature failure, as you alluded to.

I have my halides coming on in the middle of those hours so I just felt like saving a bit of energy. I figure the halides can be used as heaters so I don't need the heaters kicking on a couple hours before the halides turn on.

Okay cool, I was just reading about this. Sounds like 3-4 degrees isn't even that extreme in a 24hr period.

Thanks!
